Details on Instruction offered HULA AEROBICS! Increase muscle tone, coordination while learning basic traditional hula and tahitian movements. This class is a combination of low impact exercise and beginning dance instruction. Focus will be on learning basic hand, body and feet movements to Hawaiian/Tahitian music in addition to using Polynesian implements for increased coordination.Students should wear comfortable "work out" clothing and bring in a sarong to wrap around the hips/waist. Classes available for ages 13 to 101+ years Mini-Keiki Hula instruction: For interested keikis (pre to Kindergarden) only!Introduction to hula basic steps and hula implements. Learn a little about the Hawaiian/Polynesian Cultures. Beginning Keiki Hula instruction: For interested 7 to 12 year olds only! Focus on hand, leg, feet, basic hula movements and some Tahitian dance movements. Introduction to hula implements. Students will learn at least one Hula/Tahitian number to perform for friends/family. Intermediate Keiki/Wahine Hula: For ages 10 years through adult. This class is for students who have had some experience with polynesian dancing and would like to join a local "halau". Dances/Routines to be taught will be used for upcoming performances/events. Students who would like to share thier talents and perform for informal events, etc. are encouraged to attend. Pending level of interest, students may purchase professional hula implements and costumes for "shows". Please note that we are not a COMPETITIVE group and perform mainly for enjoyment and relaxation (vs. intense dance competitions!) BEGINNING Hula Lessons for Stay At Home MOMS: (and other interested Wahines!) For ages 21 and up.Focus on hand, leg, feet, basic hula movements and some Tahitian dance movements. Introduction to hula implements. Students will learn at least one Hula/Tahitian number to perform for friends,family. MAKUA WAHINE Hula Lessons: (for SENIORS ONLY!!)Must be at least 55 years old! Anyone less mature will not be admitted! Reminisce about the days in beautiful Hawaii and relive the memories through learning to dance the hula! Focus is on learning basic hula steps, hand motions and meanings behind each. Favorite numbers such as the HUKILAU, LOVELY HULA HANDS, I AM HAWAII will be taught during on-going classes.
